Prevention
Case Management
Initial
Assessment:
The Crisis Intervention Specialist has primary responsibility for
providing an initial assessment and addressing any critical situations
that demand immediate attention. Goals of the initial intake session are
to assess the prospective participant's intention or readiness to change
risky behaviors. This includes assessing a participant's willingness and
ability to participate in HIV risk-reduction counseling, as well as the
prospective participant's eventual willingness to encourage their sexual/drug
using partners to access PHP's services. Even if the Crisis Intervention
Specialist determines that the potential participant is ineligible for
prevention case management services during this initial intake assessment,
the Specialist can still provide counseling and referrals relevant to
that individual's needs.
